This report identifies and assesses issues directly and indirectly related to the thermal resistance of steel-framed homes and the impact of energy codes on their design, construction, and performance. The specific objectives of the report are to summarize current building methods, identify problems associated with these methods in terms of both regulatory and practical application, summarize relevant research to date that may impact current construction methods, and suggests areas where further research is necessary. The scope of the code requirements in this report is primarily limited to the CABO Model Energy Code.
