HUD Invites Expressions of Interest in Fellowship Placement Pilot Program — Economically Distressed Cities

HUD Invites Expressions of Interest in Fellowship Placement Pilot Program — Economically Distressed CitiesHUD’s new Fellowship Placement Pilot program will deploy a class of highly skilled and committed fellows into cities facing long-term economic challenges to help build capacity support and provide intense technical assistance.

HUD is pleased to announce the Request for Expressions of Interest (REI) Notice for the Fellowship Placement Pilot Program for public competition. The Department seeks a qualified third party or a partnership of third parties to grant $2.5 million to manage, administer, and implement the fellowship program. HUD broadly considers a third party to be an educational institution, private and for-profit entity, or private or public nonprofit with a 501(c) (3) status. A partnership can be comprised of two or more of these entities.

The REI notice describes in detail the objectives, full scope of work, and roles and responsibilities of the third party for the fellowship program. Those interested in applying for the $2.5 million grant to manage the fellowship program need to respond to the REI notice by Friday, MAY 13, 2011 by email at FellowshpPlacementProgram@hud.gov.

Please review the REI notice for complete instructions and further details. The REI notice is not asking that interested third parties complete a full application. Those who are interested must respond to the notice by providing an explanation on the general capacity and prior experience in managing a similar fellowship program.

Those who have responded to the notice, and are determined qualified by HUD will be invited to submit a full application and apply for the $2.5 million to manage the fellowship program. HUD will rate and rank these applications and make a final selection for award. Also, in the coming weeks, HUD will host a call to discuss the REI notice, and will send out an email when a date and time is finalized.
