Announcing the Affordable Rental Housing Partnership Page on HUD USER

Affordable Rental HousingHUD’s Office of Policy Development and Research has added an affordable rental housing partnerships page to the HUD USER website. This new section is intended to assist public sector housing agencies, individuals working at the state and local levels, and federal agency staff at the regional and local levels in forming or enhancing collaborative partnerships.

The new section of our website provides resources and strategies aimed at the preservation of affordable rental housing. It highlights innovative partnerships focused on this goal in four key states: Minnesota, Ohio, Washington, and Oregon (plus Florida’s online affordable housing database). The website gathers experiences and examples of tools that facilitate collaborative efforts to alleviate the affordable rental housing crisis, such as affordable housing databases, joint compliance monitoring, and coordination of multiple funding sources. There are also links to other websites that provide a wealth of additional information on efforts to improve, create, or foster collaborative partnerships. These include web-based resource pages of the National Housing Conference, HousingPolicy.org, the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, the National Housing Trust, and the National Housing Law Project.

We will be adding new content in the coming months, and invite your feedback on these and other state and local examples that fall within the categories outlined above. Please send your comments and suggestions to affordablerental@huduser.gov.
