Part of the mission of the Office of Policy Development and Research is to provide timely information to HUD program offices and managers. Often, this information is drawn from the Department's automated data systems, such as the following table on the "Geographic Distribution of Federally Assisted Housing."

The table shows the number of housing units available for occupancy under HUD's rental assistance programs and the Department of the Treasury's Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC). It illustrates the distribution of assisted housing units by State and includes for comparison State-by-State figures on the number of households falling below the low-income threshold and the total number of renter households, regardless of income.
