This historic study examines the degree to which residents of public housing are concentrated in racially or economically segregated neighborhoods. In order to perform this analysis, HUD created the Public Housing Race and Location Data File, which matched 1993 demographic information for over 1,700 public housing projects to 1990 census data on the socioeconomic characteristics of each development's tract.
