Residential Fixed Investment (RFI) for the fourth quarter of 2002 was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $482.4 billion, 3 percent above the value from the third quarter of 2002 and 8 percent above the fourth quarter of 2001. As a percentage of the gross domestic product (GDP), RFI was 4.6 percent, 0.1 percentage point above the third quarter of 2002 and 0.2 percentage point above a year ago.

In 2002, RFI was $470.9 billion in current dollars, an increase of 6 percent over 2001. RFI represented 4.5 percent of GDP, 0.1 percentage point over the percentage in 2001.
