The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the American Planning Association (APA) are pleased to announce a call for entries for the 21st annual HUD Secretary’s Opportunity and Empowerment Award. Part of APA’s 2018 National Planning Awards, the award recognizes excellence in planning that has led to measurable improvements in social equity and expansion of opportunity for low- and moderate-income residents, with an emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and transferability.

Entries will be accepted until midnight CDT on September 8, 2017, through online submission at the APA website.

The award will be presented at APA’s National Planning Conference to be held April, 2018, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The award recipient will:

  • Receive a personalized sculpture;
  • Be highlighted in a multimedia presentation at the awards luncheon; and
  • Be featured in Planning magazine.

Don’t miss the opportunity to share your achievement in planning excellence!
