2019 IAH Final Four Jury and Awards Presentation

The Office of Policy Development and Research is pleased to announce the 6th annual Innovation in Affordable Housing Student Design and Planning Competition (IAH) final presentations and jury selection. This year, multidisciplinary teams of graduate students in architecture, planning and policy, finance, and other areas are designing a new mixed-use development for low- and moderate-income residents situated along the San Antonio Riverwalk. Teams are asked to address the social, economic, environmental, design, and construction issues in their projects. The IAH competition strives to spur research and innovation in affordable housing, increase practitioner and future practitioner capacity, and support collaboration between design and community development. Previous IAH winners and their projects can be viewed here.

The four teams will present their final projects to a jury of practitioners and a live audience at HUD headquarters in Washington, DC. The jury will deliberate before announcing the competition winner and runner up at the conclusion of the event.

The finalist teams represent the following universities:

Virginia Tech
University of Maryland
