Recent AHS Codebook Updates

Happy Autumn!

The AHS codebook was successfully released on September 28, 2021. Notable changes were made to:

  • the variable numbering methodology, and
  • a correction to the 2017 response codes for DBUTBILL. The response codes for values of 1 and 2 were switched. See below for the changes to DBUTBILL's response codes:

DBUTBILL is determined using DBILLPAY (Now I have some questions about your utility bills. By utilities, I mean electricity, gas, fuel oil, or other fuels, water, sewage, and trash collection. In the last 3 months, have you received a notice that any of your utilities would be shut off due to lack of payment?) and DBUTSHUTOFF (In the past 3 months, have you had any of your utilities shut off due to lack of payment?).
