HUD PD&R Announces the 2022 HUD Innovation in Affordable Housing Student Design and Planning Competition’s Final Presentations and Awards Ceremony, April 13, 1:00-5:00 (virtual event)

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will host the Final Presentations and Awards Ceremony for the annual Innovation in Affordable Housing Student Design and Planning Competition. The event will be held virtually on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm EST.

Multi-disciplinary teams comprised of graduate students representing colleges and universities around the country, were asked to submit design proposals in response to an affordable housing challenge presented to them by Atlanta Housing in Atlanta, Georgia. During Phase I of the competition, initial submissions were evaluated by a panel of jurors from academia and the housing industry. In a blind review, the jury selected four student teams to continue to Phase II. The finalists traveled to Atlanta, Georgia in March 2022 to learn more about the site: a renovation of the Civic Center—a 13-acre development in the historic Old Fourth Ward district.

We invite you to join us for the April 13th event, where the four finalist student teams will deliver their final design proposals before the jury. The students represent the University of California Berkeley, the University of Kansas, and the University of Maryland, College Park. The runner-up and winning teams will be announced at the conclusion of the event.
