PD&R produces regular reports on housing market data at different levels of analysis, including a monthly National Housing Market Indicators report that highlights key statistics and trends in the housing market, and quarterly National Housing Market Summaries and Data.

Housing Market Profiles

Housing Market Profiles typically focus on metropolitan areas and discuss economic activity, population changes, building activity, and sales and rental market conditions with a focus on the most recent 24 months.

As of the 12 months ending August 2025, single-family permitting in the Milwaukee metropolitan area increased from the previous 12-month period.

A bar graph shows the number of single-family homes permitted in the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The X-axis includes bars for each year 2016 through 2024 and the 12 months ending August 2024 and August 2025. The number of homes permitted ranges from a low of 1,400 in 2023 to a high of nearly 1,800 in 2021. The final bar, for the 12 months ending August 2025, shows approximately 1,700 single-family homes permitted.
