Pol Says NYC Rent Crisis Will Be Like ‘Tsunami’

The AP (4/14) reports state Sen. Bill Perkins “says the impending expiration of a rent control law guaranteeing affordable housing in New York City will be a disaster on the level of a tsunami.” If the bill is allowed to expire on June 15, over 1 million apartments in New York City “could quickly become unaffordable for more than 2 million New Yorkers.” The State Senate’s GOP majority is said to be considering the issue, and Gov. Cuomo and Assembly Speaker Silver “are negotiating now.”
