This publication is an introduction to the work of the Office of Sustainable Housing and Communities (OSHC), which was created in 2010 under the Obama Administration. The goal of the office was to align federal investments in housing, transportation, infrastructure, and the environment, helping communities get more out of every federal dollar spent. OSHC accomplished these goals by connecting housing to jobs, fostering local innovation, and supporting energy-efficient and healthy, affordable housing through leveraging private, philanthropic, and local government funds.
