Twelve in Search of a House: a Symposium
This historic pamphlet consists of twelve statements, compiled by Britain’s Co-Operative Permanent Building Society in the final year of World War II. The individual pieces are each attributed to their author by name, but also by profession, listed in the front of the pamphlet as “a charlady; an agricultural worker; a typist; a medical practitioner; an elementary school teacher; a miner; a woman of the middle class; a vicar of the Church of England; a woman journalist; two engineers; and a railwayman's wife." Each piece pertains to the author’s desires for postwar rebuilding, personal ambitions for a home, or other related topics.
