From: HUD USER News

Data on single-family and multifamily mortgage purchases
made in 2007 by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the
Government-Sponsored Enterprises, or GSEs) are now
available from HUD USER. This set of data adds a
fifteenth year to the GSE public-use mortgage data
series, previously released by HUD for 1993 through 2006.
The data supply mortgage lenders, planners, researchers,
and housing advocates with a wealth of information
concerning the flow of mortgage credit and capital in
America's communities.

HUD USER releases the GSE Public-Use Database annually
in compliance with Section 1323 of the Federal Housing
Enterprises Financial Safety and Soundness Act of 1992,
based on loan-level data submitted by Fannie Mae and
Freddie Mac. The single-family data set includes details
such as the income, race, and gender of the borrower, as
well as the census tract location, loan-to-value (LTV)
ratio, seasoning, purchase/refinancing, and
affordability. The data also include property and unit-
class information on all multifamily mortgages acquired
by the GSEs. Both the single-family and multifamily data
include indicators of whether the purchases are from
"underserved" census tracts, as defined in terms of
their median income and percentage minority population.

Instructions for obtaining the single-family and
multifamily data sets are available
at www.huduser.gov/datasets/gse/gse2007.html.
