On November 17, 2011, HUD’s Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R) hosted its first ever Research Agenda Conference to gain input from researchers and practitioners on how PD&R research can best address knowledge gaps within the housing and community development field.

Low Carbon Development in the Pacific Rim
During his recent trip to Hawaii for the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting, President Obama stressed the importance of U.S. involvement in APEC’s Energy Smart Community Initiative. PD&R has long been involved in this effort and this year PD&R staff facilitated a series of policy exchange activities with APEC participants on the low carbon development underway in China.
