PD&R has just added two new web systems to the
huduser.gov web site to help persons seeking information
about the Fair Market Rents (FMRs) set by HUD for the
Housing Choice Voucher program and other purposes. These
systems will provide easier access to FMR information, as
well as highly detailed information on the process HUD
uses to set FMRs nationwide.

The new Fair Market Rent History system provides the
published FMRs for all unit sizes from FY 2000 to FY 2005
for any area of the country. After selecting the desired
geography, the user is provided with a page showing FMRs
for the selected area. Links are provided to the 2005 FMR
Documentation System, which conveys more in-depth
information on the user's selected area. The Fair Market
Rent History System is at
https://www.huduser.gov/portal/datasets/fmr/fmr_il_history.html

The new 2005 Fair Market Rent Documentation System
provides complete descriptions of the development of the
2005 FMRs for any area of the country. After selecting
the desired geography, the user receives a summary page
describing how the 2005 FMRs were updated and developed,
starting with the 2000 Census benchmark and including any
subsequent re-benchmarking that has come about through a
local random digit dialing survey or American Housing
Survey data. The tables on each area's summary page
include links to complete details on how the data were
developed. The 2005 Fair Market Rent Documentation System
can be found at
