New on The Edge

Message from PD&R Leadership:
Choice Neighborhoods in Action

A team from HUD recently toured Chicago's Woodlawn neighborhood as part of a Choice Neighborhoods Initiative site visit. Assistant Secretary Katherine O'Regan discusses how the redevelopment of a distressed affordable housing development is helping to forge new partnerships to address issues that extend beyond housing.

In Practice:
Charlottesville, Virginia Embraces Housing First to Tackle Regional Homelessness

A permanent supportive housing facility in Charlottesville, Virginia is using the Housing First model to address homelessness. Since opening in 2012, The Crossings at Fourth and Preston have brought stability to the region's homeless population by combining housing and services.

Policy Update:
Paired Testing and the Housing Discrimination Studies

Research to understand the extent of housing discrimination is critical to developing successful enforcement strategies and educational campaigns.
