Detroit, Michigan: Henry Ford Health System

HUD USER publishes a series of case studies based on federal, state, and local strategies that increase affordable housing opportunities and support sustainable community development. The projects and community development efforts featured in these reports have demonstrated innovation through a multitude of partnerships and initiatives.

The most recent Case Study looks at the work being done by Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) in Detroit to support community development efforts across the city. The anchor institution is partnering with other anchors in Midtown to support community development through employer-sponsored housing programs, as well as working to advance local hiring practices. HFHS is also taking a lead role in revitalizing the neighborhood adjacent to its campus by integrating larger community goals and needs into its investment strategy for the neighborhood.

Visit HUD USER’s Case Studies page to learn more about Henry Ford Health System’s work and to view other promising examples of how communities across the nation are raising the bar on sustainable community development.
