Christopher,

The gateway for AHS data is now on the Census Bureau's web site, http://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/ahs.html. You can download the public use files and codebook from there. You can also use the table creator to make custom summary tables.

For most uses, you shouldn't need to do much cleaning of the data.

I need to learn more about HUDuser's access to AHS; I'm new to data analysis and need an introduction and a primer.

How/where do I find that guidance? What do I download data and clean it for analysis? Where do I find code book for what's avaialble?

Subject: AHS: Electric Billing Variables

Trying to use the following variables in the 2013 AHS Data:

BILLGE
BILLOE
BILLFE
BILLTE
BILLWE
BILLWT

I thought these variables were in the file newhouse, but they appear not to be in the publicly available data set. Am I overlooking them, do they have to be calculated somehow, or are they not publicly available?

Thanks,
