Apply today for the Secretary’s Awards for Public-Philanthropic Partnerships

HUD, in partnership with the Council on Foundations, announces the 2018 Secretary's Awards for Public-Philanthropic Partnerships. These awards highlight the power of cross-sector collaboration and the outcomes that can be achieved through partnerships between government agencies and foundations.

The 2018 Secretary's Award will be presented to 10 winning foundations by Secretary Ben Carson at a ceremony at HUD's DC headquarters in June.

The competition is open to all charitable foundations. If you represent a foundation that has worked closely with a government partner, apply today!

The application deadline is March 9th, 2018.

International and Philanthropic Innovation

NEW COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE | HUD and the Council on Foundations launched the Excellence in Public-Philanthropic Partnerships Exchange. The Exchange is a community of practice that will support public-philanthropic partnerships by creating a space for foundation and government representatives with proven track records for innovative collaboration to exchange ideas, information, lessons learned, research, tools, and other resources. All previous Secretary's Awards winners — foundations and government partners — are invited to participate in the exchange.  
 
WORLD URBAN FORUM | HUD Assistant Secretary Neal Rackleff will be leading the U.S. Government delegation at the upcoming World Urban Forum (WUF) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the beginning of February. WUF is a forum convened by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and held since 2002. The U.S. delegation includes representatives from the U.S. Department of Treasury, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, and the U.S. Department of State. 
 
ENVISION CENTERS | HUD is soliciting interest in participation in a demonstration designed to test the effectiveness of collaborative efforts by the private sector, government, philanthropy, and nonprofit organizations. The purpose of the EnVision Center Pilot Demonstration is to explore the potential of a new service-delivery mechanism to provide low-income households the ability to benefit from life-changing opportunities.
 
Other News at HUD - In Case You Missed It 

HOUSING DISCRIMINATION | HUD is awarding $37 million to fight housing discrimination under its Fair Housing Initiatives Program (FHIP). These grants will support more than 150 national and local fair housing organizations working to confront violations of the Fair Housing Act.
 
HEALTH AND HOUSING | HUD is offering $25 million in grants to identify and eliminate lead-based paint hazards in public housing. The funding being offered directs critical support to public housing agencies to evaluate and clean up lead-based paint hazards in older housing developments.
 
HOMELESSNESS | HUD awarded a record $2 billion to support more than 7,300 local homeless assistance programs across the nation. HUD's Continuum of Care grants provide critically needed support to local programs on the front lines of serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
