HUD's Office of Policy Development and Research, Economic
and Market Analysis Division has recently released four
new "Comprehensive Market Analysis Reports" to add to its
growing roster of publications.  These market analyses
were primarily developed to help guide HUD's operations;
however, the factual information, findings, and
conclusions may also be useful to builders, mortgagees,
and others concerned with local housing conditions and
trends.

To support the market analysis and forecast, each report
contains several data tables illustrating employment,
demographic, and housing trends. The newly available
reports provide detailed information on:
o  Albuquerque, New Mexico
o  Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton, Pennsylvania
o  Canton, Ohio
o  Lafayette, Indiana

Previously available reports include:
o  Boise, Idaho
o  Athens, Georgia
o  Caguas, Puerto Rico
o  Champaign-Urbana, Illinois
o  Elmira-Corning, New York
o  Lubbock County, Texas
o  Monroe, Louisiana
o  Montgomery, Alabama
o  Westchester County, New York

New reports are periodically posted on HUD USER.

In crafting the reports, HUD economists develop the
factual framework for each analysis based on information
available from both local and national sources as of a
specific date. The reports take into account changes in
the economic, demographic, and housing inventory
characteristics of a specific housing market area during
three periods: from 1990 to 2000, from 2000 to the "as
of" date of the analysis, and from the "as of" date to a
specified forecast date.
