Survey of Foreclosure Operations
This historic survey, prepared by the Home Owners’ Loan Corporation for the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, relays the average costs incurred in cases of home foreclosure in 1937. The average attorney fee in a foreclosure case was $72.94, while additional costs accounted for $88.32 for a total of $161.25. The Home Owners' Loan Corporation arrived at these figures by surveying 100 foreclosure cases, chosen at random, from each state.
