Research:
Assessing the Role of Public Housing Agencies in Addressing Homelessness
A recent study commissioned by PD&R is helping policymakers and practitioners better understand the involvement of public housing agencies in preventing and ending homelessness. The “Study of PHAs’ Efforts to Serve People Experiencing Homelessness” explores explicit PHA efforts to target housing assistance to the homeless population and how HUD can help enhance these efforts.

Denver’s Mariposa District: Supporting Healthy, Mixed-Income Living
The Mariposa District development in Denver is expanding housing opportunities along the regional transit corridor. The transit-oriented development project features the comprehensive redevelopment of a distressed public housing site into a mixed-income neighborhood.
Policy Update:
Aging in Place: Facilitating Choice and Independence
A combination of economic and demographic shifts is creating a growing need for affordable, age-appropriate housing for seniors. Although a majority of older adults prefer to age in place, there are challenges and unanswered questions about meeting the needs and preferences of this population. Many organizations are using housing as a platform to develop supportive services that adapt to the needs of seniors, allowing them to remain at home and continue to engage with their communities.
