November/December 2009

This year's sixth edition of Breakthroughs has just been posted on the Regulatory Barriers Clearinghouse (RBC) website. In this issue, you'll read about strategies to preserve affordable rental housing, balancing housing affordability and open space conservation, and Arizona's recommendations to improve housing affordability.

Check out the November/December issue of Breakthroughs to see how...

  • Some local governments are adopting policies and regulations to preserve existing affordable rental housing in their communities;
  • Both affordable housing development and open space preservation can be encouraged by adopting conservation subdivisions; and
  • The state of Arizona has created a roadmap for local officials to adopt a viable housing plan featuring long-term affordability.

Again, you can read or download the current issue at https://archives.huduser.gov/rbc/archives/newsletter/vol8iss6_1.html. If you have similar stories that you think would help others, we'd like to know about them. Call us at 1-800-245-2691, option 4, or send us an email at rbcsubmit@huduser.gov. Who knows, we may even highlight your community's efforts in a future issue of Breakthroughs!
