which looks at a green and healthy development in the South Bronx neighborhood of New York City. Known as Via Verde, the project exemplifies quality affordable, sustainable, and mixed-income housing with an added dimension of healthy living. Some of the key features of Via Verde include:

  • A total of 221 housing units including 150 rental units targeted for low- and moderate-income households earning between 30 and 90 percent of the area median income;
  • Design and amenities that encourage walking, physical activity, and healthy eating; and
  • Numerous green building components, systems, and design strategies that will help the project achieve Gold LEED certification.
