Acting Assistant Secretary Erika Poethig discusses how public-private partnerships are fostering innovations in mortgage data collection that could one day improve national efforts to track the housing market and its implications.

Research:
The Intersection of Families, Housing, and Child Welfare Systems

In a recent meeting at HUD, federal officials and philanthropic leaders joined researchers from across the country to discuss the relationship between housing instability and involvement in the child welfare system. The working session included an overview of ongoing research to better understand the role housing can play in promoting family stability and child well-being.

Public Housing Redevelopment Leads Sustainability Efforts in Savannah, Georgia

The redevelopment of the Fellwood Homes public housing site in Savannah, Georgia is helping to usher in a new standard for development across the city. The recently completed Sustainable Fellwood received a silver rating as part of the LEED-ND pilot program, and the redevelopment includes the first LEED platinum-certified housing in Savannah.

Data are critical to understanding the extent of homelessness in the United States. Over the years, HUD has developed three core complimentary data sets to help develop a comprehensive picture of homelessness and advance evidence-based policies.

Aligning Federal Multifamily Rental Policy
Fostering the preservation and creation of affordable housing is a collaborative process that requires local, state, and federal governments to work closely together. The White House Domestic Policy Council’s Rental Policy Working Group recently convened to discuss the recently released Rental Alignment Pilots Interim Report on progress to date toward saving local agencies resources and streamlining program administration.
