Great news. HUD and the Census Bureau have closed out the 2019 American Housing Survey (AHS) data collection! We expect to begin releasing 2019 AHS data in Fall 2020.

In addition to core data, the 2019 AHS includes four topical modules with unique data on:

  • Food Security

  • Disabilities and Home Accessibility

  • Post-Secondary Education Enrollment

  • Hurricane Harvey

Sponsored by HUD and conducted by Census, the biennial American Housing Survey is the nation's most comprehensive national housing survey. It includes data on characteristics and physical condition of the nation's housing units, indicators of housing and neighborhood quality, and home improvement activities.

As we close out 2019, AHS would like to extend our congratulations to the states with the highest 2019 AHS response rates:

  • Michigan

  • Louisiana

  • Missouri

  • Florida

  • Wisconsin

The HUD AHS team also extends a hearty "Thank You!" to our partners and stakeholders in every metropolitan area and state for your continued interest and support of the American Housing Survey.

The AHS team is committed to making it as easy as possible to access and use AHS data. We want to hear from you. If you have questions or suggestions, call us at 1-800-245-2691 or email us at helpdesk@huduser.gov.
