The latest issue of Breakthroughs, the Regulatory
Barriers Clearinghouse newsletter, is now available
online at
https://archives.huduser.gov/rbc/archives/newsletter/vol2iss5.html
Breakthroughs offers a unique window on the real-world
experiences of communities like yours that are finding
creative ways to help reduce state and local
regulatory barriers to affordable housing. In the new
issue, we look at...

o How Salt Lake City considered the effects of new
impact fees on affordable housing and created waivers
for certain housing types;

o The debate in New Jersey over restrictions on home-
based businesses in many community's zoning codes; and

o The impact of rent controls on the availability of
affordable housing in the Boston area.

We hope you'll enjoy this issue of Breakthroughs, and
will consider passing it along to a friend (signing up
is as easy as sending an email to RBC@huduser.gov with
the word 'subscribe' in the subject line). If you have
questions or would like to share your own experiences
in overcoming state and local regulatory barriers to
affordable housing, give us a call at 1-800-245-2691 /
option 4, or send an email to rbcsubmit@huduser.gov.
Otherwise, we hope you'll enjoy Breakthroughs Volume
2, Number 5,
https://archives.huduser.gov/rbc/archives/newsletter/vol2iss5.html
which comes to you as a public service of U.S. HUD's
