Continuing a Tradition of Engagement at Bowdoin College
Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, has a legacy of serving the common good dating back to the school's founding 1802. Bowdoin's Joseph McKeen Center for the Common Good keeps the legacy alive by facilitating local relationships and connecting faculty and students to community engagement opportunities that supplement themes discussed in the classroom.
Urban University Leaders Assess Community Partnerships
The Coalition of Urban Serving Universities and the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities coordinated a workshop for university leaders to further their understanding of partnerships between urban-based universities and local organizations and neighborhoods. The workshop centered on discussions of a panel of five top-level administrators with expertise in partnership building, whose insights are presented in the report, "President-to-President: Mastering University-Community Partnerships."

Grantee Spotlight: Niagara University's Levesque Center Channels Resources to the City of Niagara Falls
In 2000, Reverend Joseph L. Levesque, then the president of Niagara University, created a committee to revitalize the city of Niagara Falls, New York. Within a dozen years, the ad hoc group had evolved into the Levesque Institute for Civic Engagement, which collaborates with dozens of nonprofit, faith-based, and other social service providers to improve the quality of life for all Niagara Falls residents.
