This historical publication was intended as a guide for the introduction of Section 236 of the National Housing Act. It was intended for use as a rapid reference by potential Section 236 project sponsors, builders, and lenders. Functionally, the guide enabled the program participants to ascertain the appropriate prerequisites as well as the implementation requirements for HUD-insured mortgage and construction financial assistance. A further use of this guide was to serve as a background or information supplement to the regulations.
