In 1982, HUD launched the Affordable Housing Demonstration at 20 sites across the country. The demonstration’s objective was to show that housing could be made more affordable through local partnerships, creative land use, streamlined development processes, and innovative building techniques and materials. Each demonstration site took the form of a subdivision development and received no Federal financial assistance. This historic report is a case study of the Lincoln, Nebraska demonstration site, prepared for HUD by the National Association of Home Builders Research Foundation.
