Energy Conserving Features Inherent In Older Homes

Report Acceptance Date: January 1982 (46 pages)

Posted Date: October 26, 2023

This historical publication was produced by HUD and the Department of the Interior to examine the energy conserving features in older housing. The authors note that houses built pre-1920 have more energy saving features built into their building envelope while post-World War II housing have more sophisticated mechanical systems but fewer energy conserving features. The goal of the publication is to show homeowners, contractors, and craftsman the types of energy saving design features in older homes so they may be reused rather than negated or destroyed.

This report is part of the collection of scanned historical documents available to the public.
